Born in St. Petersburg in 1980, Yevgeny Subdin displayed exceptional musical talents from an early age and in 1987 entered the music school of St Petersburg Conservatory. In 1990, he continued his studies in Berlin and then moved to London where he has lived since 1997 and where he studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Christopher Elton. Additionally he attended the International Piano Foundation at Lake Como, Italy. He has had lessons from musicians like Murray Perahia, Claude Frank, Leon Fleischer, Stephen Hough, Alexander Satz and others. The Pulvermacher Foundation, Alexis Gregory Foundation and Wall Trust have also played important roles in Yevgeny's career. He has performed in many of the world's finest venues in recitals (Tonhalle, Zurich; Wigmore Hall, London; Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; San Francisco, Gilmore International Piano Festival and ProArte Musical in Puerto Rico) and with orchestra (Royal Festival Hall in London with the London Philharmonic and Philharmonia, Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York where he made his debut at the Mostly Mozart Festival under Osmo Vanska). Other recent engagements with orchestra include performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Tonhalle Orchestra, London Philharmonic and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Yevgeny has performed at music Festivals throughout the world including Aspen, la Roque d'Anthéron and Verbier Festival. He has released a much acclaimed CD with works by Scriabin and in 2008-09 embarked on recording the complete cycle of Beethoven concertos with the Minnesota Orchestra under Osmo Vanska, a multi year undertaking. His recording of Rachmaninov's Concerto Nº 4 in its original 1926 version coupled with Medtner's Concerto Nº 2 with the North Carolina Symphony has recently been released to much acclaim. Recitals during 2010 will include the International Piano Series at London's Southbank and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw.
