Karsten Fuge is not an ordinary artist. Far from fads and avant-garde trends he pursues with tenacity, if not to say obstinacy, his chosen way.  At a time where art revolves around superlatives and gigantism, he continues in his dedication to the art of miniature, all the while reaching out for absolute, extreme perfection.  He has created his own Kafkaesque universe that is inhabited by strange beings and animals that move in fantastic landscapes – projections of a lunar dream world. Arranged along strict aesthetic rules, his fauna and flora transmit a feeling of serenity and confidence, while giving way to a certain subliminal disquiet. In Karsten´ work malice is always present. This becomes, for example, apparent in the choice of his titles whose sense is often lost in translation due to a piquant play on words. In this exhibition, the result of three years´ work, Karsten Fuge presents for the first time, besides the wonderful watercolours we are familiar with, a series of oil paintings springing out of the same imagery and demonstrating the same search for technical perfection. . He is also showing a series of objects made of the most varied materials, like strange insects that he exhibits in wooden boxes similar to butterfly collections.
