Jean-Marie Boomputte back at the Centro Cultural São Lourenço.
She: big, fat, pink skin, in tight red dress and high healed red shoes, pretentious pose, fatuous expression.
He: broad face, corpulent body squeezed in the obligatory dark suit, striped tie, leering eye.
These are the figures which animate in Jean-Marie Boomputte's paintings.
With gentle irony the artist unveils the weaknesses of the consumer society submitting to the war between trademarked products. "Art distorts" says Botero. Jean Marie Boomputte also distorts reality, reducing or increasing proportions following a well established and rigourous artistic conception. A conception that determines also the small landscapes and abstract paintings that will be on show in São Lourenço.
