"Album" is a project in which there is a conjonction of a natural product from the South of Portugal and the people who live in that region. Realized in collaboration by two artists, Stuart Frost (UK) and Gunnhild Lien (Norway), both living in a village in the Algarvian hills, the installation presents over 200 portraits individually burnt onto pieces of natural cork bark from the Serra de Caldeirão. All portraits represent the people of the Serra. The artists made them in honour of those that they meet in everyday life, and especially the people of the older generation who still live there. Cork bark the material used here is very similar to skin. It has its softness and, like skin, it seems to reveal through its imperfections the lines and traces left in the faces of these men and women by a hard working life over the years.
