Long expected by many, this new exhibition with paintings by Nuno Santiago will open at the CCSL on Saturday, 1 st of July 2006, at 7 p.m.
In the line of his own artistic language, the works continue based on the subtle superposition of canvas and Chinese paper, a material he discovered when he lived in the East. Vibrating forms, bright, solemn and mysterious, colours - glowing red, golden yellow and surprising white -emerge from the black Background.
As usual, the works by Nuno Santiago impress by their majesty and mysticism, but this time the artist succeeds in giving the forms emerging from the dark a new life, a third dimension. Visible strokes of the brush create structure and underline the central elements which seem to raise from the canvas like objects - an elaborate technique that fascinates and seduces.
